Macgregor Heavy Weighted Center Volleyball Standard Review

We ordered this item for our girls' volleyball team. The product description clearly states this is for a PAIR of volleyball bases and poles. The company we ordered from--esportsonline--only sent one base and pole. Needless to say our team can't very well play volleyball with only one base and pole.
When I called they said, "sorry, you can send it back if you don't want it." Which is not very helpful to getting our volleyball team practice.
Perhaps the saddest part of all of this is that I called esportsonline BEFORE I ORDERED this item and asked their representative if this was an accurate description. The representative told me, "If that's how it's advertised on Amazon, that's how we have to sell it." Apparently this representative was either wrong or lying--I'm guessing wrong but they should still have some accountability to provide the item as described but I guess they don't.
In a nutshell, esportsonline misrepresented this item both in the item description and verbally over the phone.
I called Amazon for help and received the same response--I could send it back to the seller. I'm very disappointed as sending it back does not deal with the misrepresentation from esportsonline or the incorrect item description.

I bought this Party Animal flag in September 2008. It's now March 2009 and the flag is tattered on the back edge. I live in Houston, so we don't have strong winds very much. I took the flag down during several storms with strong winds, but it's still tattered after only 6 months. I would not recommend this item.

6-Pack Tink's® All-Season Smokin' Sticks™ Review

6-Pack Tink's® All-Season Smokin' Sticks™
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As with any hunter, I am always a sucker for trying something different, hoping to find the product that will give me that little edge. While examining the scents at a local sporting goods store, an old timer told me how well these worked for him. Well, I was sold, so I thought I would give them a try.
I completely understand that there are many factors in determining whether a scent product works or not. Sometimes there are just no deer around to attract and I do not want to fault the product for that. My intent is to try this product over a few seasons, updating the results every year. Each year I get a deer I'll add a star. Every year they do not attract a deer I take away an additional star.
To use the sticks, the manufacturer recommends covering the stick with a smoke stack, a cover made to protect the burning sticks from rain and wind. You can purchase one from Tinks or make your own out of a bucket (directions included with the sticks). To make a cover, I took a 5 gallon bucket. Using a tape measure, I marked 12 marks on what would normally be the bottom of the bucket and marked 6 marks 4 inches from what would normally be the top of the bucket. Drill a 0.5 inch hole on each of the 12 marks at the bottom of the bucket and drill 1 inch hole on each of the 6 marks at the top of the bucket and you are done.
One additional recommendation I would make is to take a piece of scrap 2x4 about 4 inches long and drill 2 holes in it 1/8th an inch in size. This works excellent for holding the sticks when they are burning.
The one thing I learned was that the sticks seem to attract moisture, so do not leave unburned sticks out overnight if it is damp out. When I left a stick out overnight, it was obviously moist the next morning. It was difficult to light, but it still lit after a minute or two and burned normally after that.
Year 1:
Location: Central WI, near the town of Adams
Timeframe: Late Nov, 9 day gun deer season
Results: Got a doe, but Smokin Sticks did not attract any deer.
Comments: I burned 1 stick every two hours for 6 hours straight. I did this for the 2 days I hunted. The sticks attracted no deer. I left the bucket and ashes out overnight and the next morning I saw no tracks or anything to indicate that anything came to investigate the scent. The deer I got was far from the burning stick and there was no indication that it smelled it.

Eureka Sunrise 9 4-Person 9-Foot by 9-Foot Family Tent Review

Eureka Sunrise 9 4-Person 9-Foot by 9-Foot Family Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned the Sunrise 9 since 2002 and have used it on dozens of camping trips in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California. At the time I purchased it, I was the only one using it and it's way more tent than one person needs, although I absolutely loved having it to myself.
For those doing intensive research on their next tent purchase, I will provide as much detail as I can, as I find reviews aren't terribly helpful if someone only says "the tent is great". Details are very important. :o) Read on..
SET-UP:
First and foremost, the tent is very easy to construct and only takes me [and my now partner] 10 minutes to stake and raise. I always stake tents first (and then raise them), as I never trust a free-standing tent. I don't recall ever having read the instructions, as Eureka makes this tent about as fail-safe as it gets. Staking out the corners first also allows the sidewalls to be very taught once the poles are raised.
SIZE AND COMFORT:
The center height of 6' is adequate for me and my partner, as we're both 5'7". We generally use a king size air mattress, which takes up the majority of the center of the floor, but we have plenty of room to store bags and shoes on either side of the mattress. Head room, on the other hand, is moderately compromised on either side of the mattress, as it is a dome tent. The tent would fit a queen air mattress and two children's sleeping bags with perhaps a little room to spare. It's a fabulous and very spacious two-person dream tent.
Cross-ventilation is superior, with large windows on all 4 walls (including the door), as well as a low vent on the bottom of the door to allow cooler air at lower levels. The ceiling also contains several mesh vents. Since the fly is elevated, air circulates throughout the tent and it never becomes stuffy.
There are very handy storage pockets below each window which provide a very useful space for sunglasses, reading glasses, flashlights and other gear. The hanging gear loft is great for things you use occasionally, but wouldn't need access to at night. It's also a great place to rig up a battery powered overhead lantern.
WEATHER:
Our Sunrise 9 has seen it all - rain, shine, snow, wind, hail and sleet. As noted above, I always stake first, then raise. Since the sidewalls are always taught, wind never conerns me. The tent flaps slightly, but integrity is always good and has never been jeopardized. I've never owned a tent that remains so confident during high winds.
Since Eureka tapes most seems, water has never been an issue. As always, we did waterproof each seem and the inside floor of the tent has NEVER seen a drop of water. The fly provides ultimate rain protection while still allowing a view out any window and without limiting air flow. The fly is genious and easy as pie to install. We also always place a tarp underneath the tent to prevent floor seepage.
We've camped at sea level in California and at 12,000 feet in Colorado and the tent has never disappointed when it comes to any weather conditions. Because of the excellent ventilation, the tent is never more uncomfortable inside than it is outside - an important note, especially in very hot temperatures. I've taken a nap in the tent with 98º outside and was perfectly comfortable (albeit quite warm).
BOTTOM LINE:
Without a doubt, Eureka makes one of the best budget-conscious tents you can buy if you plan to have your tent for many years. All tents require the owner to put forth a little effort and care to maintain its integrity. It's not going to remain perfect if you don't take the time to set it up properly, waterproof the seams, take it down carefully and re-pack it in the fashion you un-packed it. If it takes 5 minutes longer to ensure you're doing it right, spend the extra 5 minutes and your Eureka tent will provide you with years of enjoyable trips with your family.
I would like to think Eureka has good customer service, as I've heard they do, but my tent has not failed me in any way, so I've not needed their assistance. They make a great product, which is evidenced by the fact that they're still offering tents they've been manufacturing for many years with minimal changes.
I've recently ordered the Eureka N!ergy Screen House and the Eureka Copper Canyon 1512 so we have more room for lounging and relaxation and will post reviews once they've been put to good use!

About Eureka Though the exact year is unknown, Eureka’s long history begins prior to 1895 in Binghamton, New York, where the company still resides today. Then known as the Eureka Tent & Awning Company, its first wares were canvas products--most notably, Conestoga wagon covers and horse blankets for nineteenth century American frontiersmen--as well as American flags, store awnings, and camping tents.
The company increased production of its custom canvas products locally throughout the 1930s and during the 1940 and even fabricated and erected the IBM "tent cities" just outside Binghamton. The seven acres of tents housed thousands of IBM salesmen during the company’s annual stockholders meeting, which had since outgrown its previous locale. In the 1940s, with the advent of World War II and the increased demand for hospital ward tents, Eureka expanded operations and began shipping tents worldwide. Ultimately, upon the post-war return of the GIs and the resultant housing shortage, Eureka turned its attention to the home front during the 1950s by supplying awnings for the multitude of mobile homes that were purchased.
In 1960, Eureka’s new and innovative Draw-Tite tent, with its practical, free standing external frame, was used in a Himalayan Expedition to Nepal by world renowned Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person documented to summit Mt. Everest only six years earlier. In 1963, Eureka made history during its own Mt. Everest ascent, with more than 60 of its tents sheltering participants from fierce 60+ mph winds and temperatures reaching below -20°F during the first all American Mt. Everest Expedition.
For backpackers and families, Eureka introduced its legendary Timberline tent in the 1970s. Truly the first StormShield design, this completely self-supporting and lightweight backpacking tent became one of the most popular tents the entire industry with sales reaching over 1 million by its ten year anniversary.
Eureka tents have also traveled as part of several historic expeditions, including the American Women’s Himalayan Expedition to Annapurna I in 1978 and the first Mt. Everest ascents by a Canadian and American woman in 1986 and 1988. In recent history, tents specially designed and donated by Eureka sheltered Eric Simonson and his team on two historic research expeditions to Mount Everest, this time in a quest for truth regarding the 1924 attempted summit of early English explorers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. During the 1999 expedition, the team made history finding the remains of George Mallory, but the complete mystery remained unsolved. Returning in 2001 to search for more clues, the team found amazing historical artifacts which are now on display at the Smithsonian.
Amazon.com Tent Guide Selecting a Tent Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the Worst In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.
Three- and Four-Season Tents For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.
Domes and Tunnels Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.
Size Matters Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Suisse Sport Yosemite 5 Person 2 Room Dome Tent 10' x 8' Review

Suisse Sport Yosemite 5 Person 2 Room Dome Tent 10' x 8'
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was our first tent purchase, and we've found it to be a very good entry level tent. I like the inside height that allows me at 5'8" to stand upright, and the room divider allows for a little privacy, but since it's just a curtain, it's also easy to remove and open up the whole tent. With the double doors and three windows, as well as the mesh top under the rain fly, it's got pretty decent ventilation. I wouldn't say this is a four season tent, as the nylon taffeta is a little thin for cool weather camping, but it handles rain well. I did seam seal and waterproof the rain fly and tent before we camped the first time, as I was told by experienced campers that's the best way to ensure dry camping, and I've no complaints. It's not too difficult for me to put up by myself in 20-30 minutes, but with help, we can get it up in 10 minutes easy. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because it has pole sleeves to thread the poles through (clips are better), the stakes it comes with are pathetic, it has little in the way of gear pouches and no power access. You can fit two queen air mattresses in the tent with a little space at the feet for gear, but it's a tight fit, and heavy rain may condense on the inside of the tent from the pressure against the walls. One queen and a twin air mattress work better, reducing sleeping capacity to three adults, but decreasing tension against the walls and increasing storage and standing space in the tent. Finally, the bag it comes in holds all the parts of the tent plus has room for my mallet and extra stakes, and has a carry handle to make transporting it more easily. I highly recommend this tent for a beginner or occasional camper.

Enjoy a little extra privacy when camping with friends with the Suisse Sport Yosemite two-room dome tent. Designed to sleep up to four people, the tent includes a removable divider that splits the tent in two. As a result, you can wall off other campers when changing clothes or sleeping, or you can remove the divider to create a single large room. The Yosemite also includes a double D door for easy entry and exit, along with a full four-point rainfly to keep you dry on moist evenings. And ventilation is always a concern in warm, muggy climates, which is why the tent includes three mesh zippered windows and a mesh ceiling. The tent measures 10 by 6 by 8 feet (W x H x D) and weighs roughly 13.65 pounds.

Coleman Sundome Tent (10-Feet x 10-Feet) Review

Coleman Sundome Tent (10-Feet x 10-Feet)
Average Reviews:

This is a review as well as some suggestions for the other reviewers.
1) The rainfly does cover the windows if you align it / center it correctly.
2) It has excellent vetntilation. The cealing does not have a closeable nylon covers inside the tent. This is because it is a 3 season tent. If you were able to close it to keep dust out you would find that the tent would be wet from condensation inside on the inside. So the cealing is mesh to let warm air and moisture excape. The rainfly keeps moisture out.
If the cealing had zipper covering over the mesh,it would be a 4 season tent useable in winter.
The tent sets up easy and served us well in our first weekend camoing in it. We did not get any real rain so I cant comment on its waterproof effectiveness. But it is gaurenteed waterproof.
I love the headroom and the zippers opperated smoothly without a snag.
I'm happy with it. Hope this is helpful.
5-13-2008
I used this tent 6 times this year already. One night it rained very hard. The tent was amazing as not one drop on either of us throught the entire storm. I honestly thought that we were going to get wet. This tent does what it says. Update 2009
Ok it is now 2009, the rainfly ripped last year but Coleman sent me a new replacement at no charge. Suggestion, you don't need to tighten the 2 side rain fly cords so tight just enough so they are away from the tent. You should however tighten the 4 corner rain fly cords snug, this help keep the rainflt and tent stable and keep pressure off the 2 side rain fly cords where rips occurred. Follow this and you should not tear your rain fly. It rained all weekend while camping this weekend. 2 nights very hard and not a drop on us. third season and the tent still has no issues. I really like this tent.
I would confidently buy another Coleman tent. Don

Roomy enough for the whole family, the Coleman Sundome tent sleeps up to five people at a time in complete comfort. The Sundome is outfitted with Coleman's exclusive WeatherTec system, a series of technical features intended to protect you from inclement weather and nasty storms. WeatherTec tents are built with a coated polyester fabric combined with anti-wicking thread, webbing, and zippers, all designed to keep you dry when the rain comes down. The tent's welded waterproof floor and inverted floor seams, meanwhile, dramatically increase the water resistance by hiding the needle holes inside the tent and away from the elements. And in addition to offering fully taped rainfly seams, the included rainfly covers the doors and windows tightly and incorporates easy-to-use Velcro frame attachments. In fact, Coleman is so confident in its WeatherTec system that it exposes its WeatherTec tents to a rain room that simulates nasty downpours, and to a wind machine capable of blowing hurricane force gusts. The results? Even after the tests, Coleman guarantees its WeatherTec tents will keep you dry.
The Sundome's interior is notably spacious, with a base that measures 10 feet by 10 feet and a center height of 72 inches--plenty of headroom for most people. In addition, the tent is engineered to keep you cool thanks to the adjustable Variflo ventilation and vented Cool-Air port. Best of all for travel-weary campers, the Sundome sets up quickly, with two shock-corded steel poles, continuous pole sleeves, a pin-and-ring design, and InstaClip attachments. The tent even comes with easy-to-follow instructions sewn into the durable carrying bag. Other features include a heavy-duty welcome mat, a single door, separate bags for the poles and stakes, a privacy vent window, an interior gear pocket, and an electrical access port.

About Coleman More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

I really was. I'm crafty and generally will make this sort of thing, but we don't have hickory in the NW...and Cedar isn't hard enough to take the abuse of my 6 year old. Sure it smells nice, but can it handle fighting off imaginary bears and sasquatch, or helping to save mommy from an ogre? No...but, Hickory can. I was concerned because the pith beneath the bark looked a little green...and therefore, raw and unseasoned. But I think it's just the wood...maybe someone else can ellaborate.

I just got my combo today and I'm very happy with it. I needed to replace a rod that I broke and I didn't want to spend a lot. I chose Wild Water because of the price and the warranty. The shipping was free and super fast (UPS to Hawaii) which was great. Looks wise the rod is very basic, black wraps on dark grey, single stripping guide. Shiny metal (steel?) reel seat is a nice touch though. The reel is also very entry level but it's large arbor entry level which is nice. I took the setup out on a small stream for smallmouth and the thing was like butta. The casting was smooth and almost effortless. Full disclosure: I don't own any high end rods so I can't tell you "Casts better than my Winston (Loomis, Orvis, Sage, whatever)" but it sure casts better than my previous rod which was part of a Cabelas starter kit. The fly was going where I wanted it way more often than I'm used to. The slow action on this rod is said to be good for beginners, so I'll use this one to teach my sons to fly cast. I ordered a med/fast action for bigger water and windier days. I got both this combo and the 2nd rod for less than I was going to spend on just a starter rod/reel combo from a better known company. The 4 piece design is great for travel and the included case is solid. I know I've only had the stuff for a day, but it was a good day. I caught (and released) 6 bass including the 2 biggest I've ever got out of that particular stream. This outfit is a great place to start for a first timer, a great place to continue for kinda broke guys like me, and a can't-go-wrong backup for anyone else.

Great Telescopic fishing rod. I bought it as a present for my nephew.
It is exactly how it is described. It was just a little shy of 14 ft. 9 but still very happy. The end where you hold it is covered with a material that gives a good grip. The reel works and is filled with line, ready to fish. I have not tried yet but it feels great. Before ordering I exchanged emails with the owner, to be sure that he has the length as advertised. He send me and extra spool. Thank you. Shipping; I got it in three days.
Happy camper.
