(More customer reviews)Ironically, I feel exactly the opposite about Tite Grip. Pole moves make me nervous so my hands get sweaty and this helps me to stick better than anything else I have tried. If you have sweaty hands, Tite Grip is better than Mighty Grip. I don't have a problem with the smell at all. At first it smells like mint, but it oxidizes some on your hands and will have a slight metallic smell. It's not enough to bother me.

(More customer reviews)We got this tent as a rental from an outfitter. We were surprised, we were expecting a Kelty Gundison. We did not despair, figuring the outfitters knew what they were doing. We weren't disappointed either. This tent is light, compact. It weighs the same and is only slightly bigger when compressed than our ten year old three man backpacking tent (Eureka Pinnacle). It is a breeze to put up. My husband managed it the first time in the dark and the rain in just a few minutes. The two-pole clip system that many of these tents have is great for this. Looking at the build quality, it seemed sturdier than a similar REI tent we looked at. (The clips looked thicker and the floor didn't feel as thin). We got a ground cloth which we used and a gear loft which we didn't. I think my favorite feature about this tent is the awesome vents in the fly that pop open and still keep you dry. There are also clear plastic windows in the fly which are kind of cheesy, but it's nice to be able to see out. My only gripe is a small one and that is in the design of the gear vestibules. The zippers pull from the bottom, so if you are in the tent and want to get out you have to lean way out to reach the zipper. The vestibule is somewhat useless, I think since it is wide and low. This is a really common tent design and I can't figure out why these vestibules are so popular. There's not much you can really do with them. If you had four people with four backpacks, there's no way you'd get them all in there.
We just mostly use the vestibules to keep our shoes dry. It does that fine, but our Eureka Pinnacle does as well and has no extra vestibule zipper to cope with, just an overhang that will keep a small amount of stuff dry. When the weather was nice we pinned back the vestibules so that it was easier to get in and out of the tent. There was also the option to just have half the vestibule open, which worked really well.
If the zipper on the vestibule pulled from the top, I'd probably have given it a five star review.

(More customer reviews)Had some problems with the delivery, the 10' pole was not delivered on the first try. Amazon handled it well. Product is much stronger than the low end portables, has much less give than my previous pole. Definitely plan for a 2 person installation, or 3 if you can swing it. There's concrete to mix and pour, and also concrete to fill the pole before setting. So the final assembly requires some stout backs.
Has been in use for several weeks now. Very pleased with the performance. Now I need a better backboard to go with it!

(More customer reviews)When I started looking for a 3 person, 4 season, light weight, economical tent, I thought this would be perfect. I have not used it yet, but I have set it up and I really think it will work for our backpacking needs. I know this is not considered a backpacking tent, but 7lbs. (indicated on website) is not bad when our other backpacking tent weighed 5lbs. We decided 2 more pounds would be ok.
The only problem I have is that the website says it weighs 7lbs.
The shipping weight on the box said, 11 lbs. I know that the box did not weight 5 lbs. So my husband weighed the tent at work, without the box, on a commercial scale and it weighed 8.5 lbs.
So, you might be thinking 1.5lbs. is not a big deal. Well it is when you are carrying it on your back for 25 miles. Every pound is important when considering what you take with you.
I think the weight needs to be changed on the website just incase someone else has the same weight considerations.

(More customer reviews)The shelter is multifunctional in that it can be set up like a tent, a lean-to, or a canopy with some extra poles(haven't tried this one yet). The problem is this is not a one person, albeit, sometimes not even a two-person operation. And on a beach with winds of as little as 15 mph it become an exercise in perseverance. Actually had to bring some rocks to anchor this down,(the wind kept pulling up the anchors up from the sand). Sand bags might help. But frankly anything less than perfect, windless weather makes setting it up a challenge,(undo-able in less than 10 minutes). The fabric is excellent and the UV factor really shields from the sun. Once set up, functions great, used it as a lean-to in Acadia National Park on their beach front. That's why I only gave it a 3 star. Would have loved to have given it a 5 star, but its impractical for a family of 4 (2 adults-2 sm. children) or a single individual or even a couple without hassling. Probably for a group of 3-4 adults it might go smoother and not in high wind situations. Probably will be returning mine and looking for other alternative shelters.

(More customer reviews)I have two of these and they work great for channel catfish. I have not used them for large blues or caught a flathead on one, but for large channels they hold up nicely. The bait alarm seems gimicky but properly adjusted it has alerted to me to many fish when my back is turned, I'm snelling a hook and not watching, or down the bank putting a fish on the stringer. To make the spincast bait alarm work correctly you have to point the rod tip toward the water so the rod holder needs to be the right kind, not a verticle one. Bass Pro sells a nice bank rod holder that works well with these combos. In 3 years I have had to replace the batteries once on one of the reels (very easy to do), and of course the line should be changed out at least once a year. This is a good combo for beginners and serious fishermen alike, it should not let you down.

(More customer reviews)I have set up many tents all with ease however I have set this one up over twenty times and it still takes me more than 20 min to set up. The stakes it comes with are cheap and I can bend them with my bare hands. The poles seem okay, however the joints are starting to stay bent funny ways after being set up. Im hoping this isnt bad for the poles but it doesn't look good. The fly is nice and keeps my nice and dry. However the inner tent has pathetic venting and acts like a greenhouse. When the sun comes up in the morning about 5 minutes later the tent is already about 10 degrees warmer than it is outside. Therefore a bad choice in warm weather.

(More customer reviews)The TU-150 is 15' long. It is 3 pieces. I own 2 and bought my 3rd on 11/9/10 on Amazon.
The rod is phenomenal. I recommend you litely sand all connecting points for the joints so that the sections do not stick together because they will... after sanding rub surfer's "SEX WAX" for surf boards around the connecting joints (inside/outside as applicble). This rod casts about 30% further than my 12' surf rods and I use it in extreme surf with heavier weights OR when I just want to cast as far as any human being can cast a weight and a bait...no kidding.... I am able to cast 12 and 14 ounce weights with this rod in extreme conditions and I can cast an 8 ounce weight so far I have had other surf fishermen watch in awe. I fish for Stripers and Blues on Long Beach Island N.J. and this rod is great. Clean it after every use, treat it well and enjoy it.
Put a good reel on it, big reel recommended as this is a big rod. Nice tip action does not lie, tells you when a fish is messing with your bait. It takes a bit of muscle and skill to cast this beast and I love mine (all 3).....they make surf fishing even more fun !. Enjoy !.

(More customer reviews)I've had Ugly Stiks and Shakespeare reels for salt water for many years and thought I'd try some freshwater trout fishing. I needed something small and inexpensive and this combo fit the bill. Sure the reel has only one bearing but it's still smooth and should last quite a few years when properly maintained. The action on the Ugly Stik is light, the construction is solid and the two pieces fit snugly together. The reel is solid, cranks smoothly and the bail returns acceptably. I prefer the rear drag adjustment and this one seems to work very well. The black color on both the rod and reel are good for stealth in clear streams (no shiny parts) and looks good too. It casts smoothly and hits the mark every time (mainly because I'm just that good). Can you buy something much better? Sure. In my research I can across an ultralight reel that cost $1300. I say buy this Shakespeare Combo and then take the $1260 and go on a nice vacation to the mountains. I'll pass this rig on to my son and upgrade some day but as for now this will do just fine.
Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)I purchased a Camco telescoping flagpole. The sections were to be raised and set with a "twist and grip" mechanism. The slightest wind and the twist and grip would release and a section, or two, would slide back into its lower one. I contaced Camco and they very graciously asked me to take a picture of the top section of the mast and send it to them. The pole I had purchased was no loger the model they had on the market so they replaced it with one that has "pop" pins that lock the sections in place. It worked well for four camping trips. On our last trip, the lower section of the pole would not release; the top three were fine, but the fourh one would not release. I tried everything, including WD40. When I returned it to the RV dealer they put it in their aluminum recycling bin!
But, alas! Upon calling CAMCO Mfg. and speaking to a very polite gal, they are shipping me a new pole at no charge. Talk about customer relations!!!!!!
